African television, film industry close to booming

The African television and film industry is booming. Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry, has emerged as the powerhouse of African cinema - it produces more movies than Bollywood or Hollywood. Nigerian producers have disrupted the way movies are made and financed, selling their films directly online to consumers. They are proving to the world that local filmmakers can get rich making creative cinema for an audience on the continent. The rest of Africa is now following that model.
