Afghanistan: Bomb blast hits Taliban convoy in Jalalabad

One person died and seven others were injured in an explosion in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad in Nangarhar province, reports from local media said on Saturday. Though no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, the Islamic State in Khorasan Province, ISKP (ISIS-K) - an affiliate of ISIL (ISIS) - is believed to be behind it. The armed group has claimed the attacks at Kabul airport last month which killed 170 people, including 13 US soldiers. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told Al Jazeera that the Taliban is carrying out a major security operation in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, where dozens of ISKP fighters were captured.
