Steve Cooper Reveals Andre Ayew's Disappointment After Swansea City Draw With Sheffield Wednesday

Steve Cooper has revealed Andre Ayew's disappointment in Swansea City 2:2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The Swans looked on course to secure all three points against Garry Monk's side after Andre Ayew netted his sixth goal of the campaign in the opening half.

However, they were staring down the barrel of a first away league defeat of the season late on as Fernando Forestieri and Morgan Fox struck in the final stages.

But Wilmot's close-range effort in the 94th minute ensured Swansea claimed a share of the spoils at Hillsborough.

"We've conceded a few (late goals) as well! They probably even themselves up, but it is showing that we will not give up," said the head coach.

"The mentality of the team is something we want to be really proud of.

"We do want to play with the ball and play in a creative way, but we also want to be really tough to play against and that is never giving up. We showed that today."

Having put the visitors ahead in the 32nd minute, Ayew had two real opportunities to kill off the game in the second half, one of which saw him head wide from six yards out when unmarked.

After failing to take their chances, Swansea fell behind before Wilmot rescued a point for his side.

And Cooper admits Ayew cut a devastated figure in the dressing room after failing to put Wednesday to the sword.

"That was the clear-cut one. He knows that, Andre. He's disappointed in the dressing room," added Cooper.

"We've got the point and I'm pleased that we've got it because if we'd have lost today it would have been a travesty after coming to a place like this and showing the confidence to play as we have.

"I think that bodes well for where we're trying to go. There's a lot to get our heads around because it was such a mad end to the game but I'm just pleased for the boys that for the way they played and the resilience they showed they got the minimum they deserved."

Swansea face Millwall at the Liberty Stadium in their next fixture on November 23.
