CK Akonnor Leaps To Defence Of Under-Fire Ghana Coach Kwesi Appiah, Calls For Patience
C.K Akonnor has jumped to the defence under-fire Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, insisting criticism of the gaffer is unwarranted and urges for patience.
The country's 1-0 defeat to the Harambee Stars in Nairobi over the weekend has sparked a wave of attack on the soft-spoken Ghanaian coach.
A Nicholas Opoku's own goal condemned the much-fancied West African giants to the sorry defeat at the Kasarani stadium in Nairbo- and the fingers are being pointed at the gaffer.
But the former Ashantigold coach is refusing to blame the coach for the defeat, insisting patience is key to team building.
'It's not always about results but the development of the team also matters' he told Asempa FM.
'Let's think about the way forward I believe we can qualify for the 2019 AFCON because we have the players. We have a very strong technical team. Let's stop speculating. Coach Kwasi Appiah may be quiet but he knows what he is doing' Akonnor added.
The Black Stars remain top of group F on superior goal advantage and will play Sierra Leone in a two-legged header next month.
