Hearts Pulling Out Of J.A Kuffour Cup Is Disappointing – Kotoko Director

Communications Director for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Lawyer Sarfo Duku has expressed his disappointment to Accra Hearts of Oak’s decision to pull out of the John Agyekum Kufuor Cup.

Report yesterday suggested that the Phobians were planning to boycott the fundraising match in honor of the formal President. Earlier today on Asempa FM, Mr. Agyare, a representative of Hearts of Oak disclosed that the supporters of the club met with Managing Director Mark Noonan and told him they think it will be best if the club pulled out of the upcoming match.

The supporters argue that playing a lot of friendly matches with their sworn enemies will eventually take the rivalry between the two most glamorous clubs in the country away.

They also say looking at the incident of their supporters last Sunday that led to some being arrested, it will not be right to go ahead and play another friendly match with the Porcupine Warriors.

Reacting to the claims on the same Station, Lawyer Sarfo Duku says he is disappointed Hearts will use such an excuse to abandon the match.

He believes that the Accra based club are only trying to boycott the match to avoid another defeat at the hands of Kotoko.

According to him, Hearts still do not understand how they have been humiliated two times in a row and that is why they do not want to play.

Kotoko beat Hearts four zero aggregate over two legs at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in the space of one week.
