Ahmed Said Scores Consolation For Hadjuk Split As They Bow Out From Europa League

Ghanaian forward Ahmed Said grabbed a consolation goal for Hadjuk Split in their 2-1 loss against Steaua Bucuresti in the penultimate qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

Hadjuk Split were hoping to record a positive result when they travelled to Romania to square off against Steaua Bucuresti after drawing blank in the first leg last week.

However, following a cagey first half, they were pegged back by Harlem-Eddy Gnohere's 55th-minute penalty.

Split believed they have sailed through when Ahmed Said planted his bullet header into the far left corner.

But their joy was cut short after Harlem-Eddy Gnohere headed into an empty net at the death of the match to hand his side a 2-1 win.

Said has been heavily linked with a move to Italian Serie B side Livorno, but it remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old will make the switch as the Italian transfer window closes on Friday (today) at 7pm.
