CAF CONFED. CUP Report: Aduana 2-1 AS Vita Club

Aduana Stars has recorded their first win in the ongoing CAF Confederations Cup competition.

Ghana’s only representative in continental competition edged their Congolese counterpart in their group match to win by two goals to one.

It was a match that Aduana had to win by all means to stand any chance of progressing out of their group into the next game of the CAF Confederations Cup. In the opening two games, Aduana only managed to pick up a single point which left them on the bottom of the table with just one point.

Aduana Stars played their first group game at away when they travelled to neighbouring Cote D’Ivoire to face ASEC Mimosas. That game ended one zero in favour of the home team. It was former Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Bechem United striker Ahmed Toure who scored the only goal of the day.

In their second game, the Dormaa based side hosted Raja Casablanca of Morocco at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park. A struggling Aduana side only managed to record a draw out of that game but only after coming from behind three times. The game-ending three all.

Fortunately for the Fire boys today, they recorded their first victory after three matches. Lifting them from the bottom of the table to second, although the result of the match between ASEC Mimosas and Raja Casablanca might change things. Bright Adjei opened the scoring for the home team as early as four minutes into the first half. Shortly after, experienced striker Yahaya Mohammed found the back of the net to give Aduana a two-goal lead. Mid-way through the first half, Glody Ngonda Muzinga pulled one back for AS Vita Club.

The game did not see any more goals in the second half as the tempo of the match dragged. AS Vita Club pushed for an equalizer to get something out of the match but all efforts proved futile. The home team, on the other hand, tried to score a third but squandered all chances that came their way.
