Minority congratulates Black Stars

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA- The Minority in Parliament on Tuesday congratulated the Black Stars on their convincing victory over the Cranes of Ugandan in their World Cup qualifying match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi last Stadium.

A statement issued in Accra and signed on behalf of the Minority Leader said the victory of the Black Stars has more or less ensured their passport to the World Cup finals to be held in Germany next year.

It said, "While we are certain at this stage of the Black Stars qualification, we wish to urge the players and the handlers of the team not to rest on their oars. Strange things can happen in the African game. We therefore hope the team puts the matter beyond all reasonable doubt with an emphatic victory in their next game against Cape Verde". The Minority also suggested the arrangement of more friendly matches for the Stars in order to improve the cohesiveness of the team adding, " that while the first half of the match with the Cranes drew flashes of brilliance in the Stars game, the second half was quite scrappy and saw the Cranes dominating play for much of the half."

The statement said the team therefore needs to be prepared adequately before they appear on the world stage next year, saying "we are however certain that the Stars will rise to the occasion and make Ghana proud at the ultimate stage of soccer glory, come Germany 2006."
