Dormaa Hene Calls On Gov’t To Supports Clubs

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyemang Badu II

Life Patron of Aduana Stars, who is also the King of Dormaa, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyemang Badu II has called on the Government to come to the aid of teams that represent Ghana in continental competition to help the teams’ campaign.

The great ruler, whose team remains the only club representing Ghana in the continental competition made this plea to the Minister for Youth and Sports, Honorable Isaac Asiamah whiles He was speaking at yesterday’s SWAG awards ceremony that went down at the Accra International Conference Center.

Aduana qualified to the CAF champion’s league after winning the Ghana Premier League in the last campaign. Unfortunately, they were booted out into the CAF confederations cup where they have progressed to the group stage of the competition.

It is no news that playing in Africa costs so much and to be able to progress and fight for glory on the continent you need to be a team backed by some serious financing.

The King of Dormaa further disclosed that he did not see how costly playing in Africa was the first time his team, Aduana Stars qualified to represent Ghana because during that period his team did not progress in the competition.

But subsequently that his The fire Boys has progressed and are now in the group stage of the Confederations Cup, He has now understood some of his colleague football administrators who always complain about how costly playing in continental competition is.

“In the first place when you go to Africa, you are not taking your club, when you go there you are going to hoist the flag of Ghana. Not your team as Medeama, Berekum Chelsea, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak and all the rest. It is in this case that am appealing to you that when you sit in the cabinet to meet the president of the Republic of Ghana, this is a request that we are pushing. That from next year, they should extend some sort of help to the local clubs”.

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyemang Badu II added even though he does not expect Government to respond to his plea this year, it will not be bad if they did.
