Fear Grips Judges

– As Death Rips Judiciary Apart

Tension and fear is at its peak among the Superior and the Lower Court Judges after the sudden death of one of the finest High Court Judges in the country, Justice Kofi Acquah, who died on the wee hours of Monday.

The death of Justice Acquah has increased the number of judges who have passed away whiles in active service to four in less than eight months. Judges who have died within the period are Justices Okoto Dartey, Mrs. Kusi Apouh and Justices Tei until the death of Justice Acquah. The Superior Court is currently on recess and the late Justice Acquah, who is in his early 50s, was selected with Justice Ayebi by the Chief Justice to sit at the Cocoa Affairs Court as Vacation Judges till the Courts resumes in October this year.

Moments after the news of the calamity hit the entire judiciary most of the judges contacted confirmed the death of Justice Acquah but were tightlipped to go to town with the news. Majority of them expressed fear and were very anxious about the spate of deaths that has engulfed the judiciary in recent times.
