Today In History: Joshua Clottey Beats Ayitey Powers

On December 6, 2002, Joshua Clottey defeated compatriot Ayitey Powers in a fistic clash.

Clottey reigned supreme over Powers by running away with a convincing unanimous decision win in a fight which came off at the Globe Cinema in Accra.

The Ghanaian then waited for four years before getting his first world title shot which he lost to then WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito.

Two years later, he had his second world title shot, this time he defeated Zab Judah to win the IBF world welterweight belt.
