Gov’t Did Not Fund Supporters Flight – Deputy Sports Minister

The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide has disclosed that his outfit did not fund for the supporters that were airlifted to India.

Ahead of the round of 16 clash with Niger in Mumbai, 45 supporters were airlifted to support the Black Stars.

It was, however, reported that the government airlifted these supporters to India but the member of parliament for the people of Ketu North has rubbished those claims by revealing that they had sponsorship for the fans who were airlifted to Mumbai.

“The money used to sponsor the fans to India were not from Government coffers, we got it from individuals and companies,”Hadzide told footballmadeinghana.com

“The private sector and individuals are helping us to get our fans to India to support the Starlets,”

Ghana will play against Mali in the quarterfinals in the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup after they defeated Niger by 2:0 in Mumbai on Wednesday.
