Ghana Netball Federation Goes To Congress On May 13

The Ghana Netball Federation will hold its congress and general meeting on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the conference room of the Ghana Olympic Committee in Accra.

The congress, which was scheduled for Saturday, April 28, had to be pushed forward to its new date due to financial challenges.

In an interview in Accra, the president of Netball Federation of Ghana, Reverend Emmanuel Dzani Nii Quaye, said the congress would discuss issues bordering on netball and how to whip up interest in it for it to become a vibrant sport in the country.

According to him, the federation is due to participate in two upcoming international tournaments, which are Africa Senior Netball Championship in Kampala, Uganda from Saturday, June 24, through to Friday, June 30, 2017 and the West African (ECOWAS) International Netball Tournament (senior /junior) to be held in Abidjan, La Cote d’ Ivoire from Sunday, August 20, 2017 to Sunday, August 27, 2017.

The Federation executive will attend the Africa Netball Annual General Meeting in Kampala, Uganda, while the African senior championship in running.

“Ghana netball is not ranked in the current world ranking of netball by the International Netball Federation. There are six Africa countries in the ranking. South Africa (5th), Malawi (6th), Uganda (13th), Zambia (15th), Zimbabwe (17th) and Botswana (18th),” he said.

He continued that the Ghana federation was meeting to set targets concerning how to break into the ranking as well as revive the Regional Netball League and resume it next year.
