Solomon Asante: I Feel Sad TP Mazembe Is Not Playing The Champions League

Ghana and TP Mazembe’s diminutive attacking midfielder Solomon Asante has recounted the ordeal of not playing in the CAF Champions League.

“Last year we [TP. Mazembe] couldn’t play in the CAF Champions League and we are not playing this year too,” Asante said in an interview.

“As a player I feel sad about it because the Champions League is a very important competition on the African football calendar and that’s what worries us as players,” he added.

According to the Black Stars winger [Solomon Asante] despite missing the competition he and his colleagues cannot complain too much because they have won it before.

“Though painful, we can take solace in the fact that we have won the competition, lifted the confederation cup before, and have also participated in the club world cup,” he said.

“For now, all attention has been geared towards qualifying to play in the next confederation cup,” Asante noted.

Tout Puissant Mazembe will take on JS Kabylie in the Coup de la Confederation on April 9 at the Stade de TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi
