Akwesi Appiah: Ex-Black Stars coach turned down Sudan National Team coaching job

Ex-Black Stars coach, Akwesi Appiah has revealed he turned down the Sudanese coaching job after he was approached by authorities.

Appiah, 56 is currently coaching Sudanese club Al Khartoum and propelled his team to fifth place and subsequently won the Best Coach in the Sudanese top-flight League.

Kwesi Appiah has stated  that the Sudan Football Association was bent on handling him the coaching job of the Desert Foxes, but he rejected the offer.

"Yes they approached me but I declined the offer. They wanted me to coach Al Khartoum as well as the national team but I told them I couldn't do that job," Alwasi  Appiah told Kessben FM in Kumasi.

"Coaching demands concentration and I need to fully concentrate on one of these jobs. So I told them it's either the national team or the club. And obviously the club was the first option," he added.

Akwesi Appiah became the first indigene to qualify Ghana for the FIFA World Cup in 2014 in Brazil.
