It breaks my heart that JJ Okocha never won Africa's best- Andre Ayew

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew has noted that, Nigerian football legend Jay Jay Okocha’s inability to win the African Best Player award always makes him sad.

Okocha was one of the best on the continent during his playing days getting 75 caps for Nigeria.

At club level, Okocha also played for Borussia Neunkirchen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Fernerbahce, Paris Saint-Germain Bolton Wanderers, Quatar SCC and Hull City.

“I will say Abedi Pele is the most skillful. He had a lot of skills even though their class of play was different. He showed a lot of technique and a lot of finesse in his game,” Andre told Accra-based radio station Starr FM in an interview

“And also I saw all his games, I also saw Jay Jay Okocha; he was my generation. It’s sad that he never won the African best player; football is like that,”

The Swansea City top scorer for last season missed the 2016 African Player of the Year having been named among the finalists alongside eventual winner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Yaya Toure.
