Moise Katumbi Chapwe: TP Mazembe owner jailed for three years

The owner of Congolese club Tout Puissant Mazembe, Moise Katumbi Chapwe has been sentenced to three years in prison for real estate fraud in his home town Lubumbashi.

A court in Lubumbashi on Wednesday ruled in Mr. Moise Katumbi Chapwe's absence. The owner of TP Mazembe had left for London to receive a specialised treatment.

Evidence provided according to the court was sufficient enough to sentence Mr. Chapwe to prison for a fraud offence against a Greek international living in his home town.

TP Mazembe's owner has also been accused of risking national security by hiring mercenaries.

TP Mazembe are currently playing in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. The club from Congo are in the same group with Ghana Premier League club Medeama SC.

The Congolese club beat Medeama SC by three goals to one in their opening group game of the CAF Confederation Cup.
