Ghana Premier League spending: Asante Kotoko top table with US$ 222,000 on new signings

Asante Kotoko were the Ghana Premier League's top spenders during the transfer window, splashing out over 850,000 Ghana cedis (US$ 222,000) on new signings.

Richard Osei Agyemang, Kwame Boateng, Evans Quao, Bennett Ofori and Ernest Sowah were all big-money arrivals.

In total, Kotoko signed 11 new players as they fortified their squad to reclaim the title they relinquished.

Rivals Hearts of Oak were relatively busier with some signing which cost a fortune like Samudeen Ibrahim (60,000 Ghana Cedis) and Samuel Yeboah and totaled 450,000 Ghana cedis (US$ 117,000).

League champions AshantiGold had the second-highest expenditure with 700,000 Ghana cedis (US$ 183,000) in the division with ten new signings including the Nuhu brothers, Daniel Addo, Hudu Yakubu among their expensive acquisitions.

Aduana Stars also penetrated the market with 600,000 Ghana cedis (US$ 156,000) and had deals including Noah Martey, Yakubu Mohammed, Stephen Anokye-Badu and Richard Mpong

Inter Allies' war chest saw them sign two players- Prince Barrie and Michael Touray from neighbouring Sierra Leone and Gambia.

Newly-promoted sides Dreams FC forked out 250,000 Ghana cedis (US$ 65,000) and Techiman City FC 150,000 Ghana cedis (US$ 39,000).
