Central Regional Colts championship tournament opens

Cape Coast, Nov.6, GNA - The Central Region Inter Districts Juvenile clubs championship (Under 17) soccer tournament opened at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Friday.

Five teams made up of Cape Coast Royal Stars, Agona Swedru St.George's Academy, Mankessim Striking Force, Abura Odonase Schalke 04 and Dunkwa-on-Offin Ogya Mframa are participating in the three-day tournament.

Mr Haruna Issa, Chairman of the Regional Juvenile Committee said the winner of the tournament would represent the Region at the forthcoming Inter Regional Milo games.

The Chairman therefore appealed to the participating teams to eschew indisciplined behaviours as well as rowdy behaviors and to comport themselves during the tournament.

In the opening match, Cape Coast Royal Stars made a bright start when they whipped Ogya Mframa 4-0.

Royals led 3-0 at first half with goals by midfielder, Jubirin Karimu, outside right, Mugu Blay and inside right Stephen Panful while inside left, Alex Apaana sealed the doom of the visitors with a classic goal in the second half to bring the scores to 4-0.
