Hearts incurs debt of 107 million after Sable match

Accra, Oct. 21, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited has incurred a debt of 107 million cedis after their continental game against Sable d' Batie of Cameroon at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday.

Mr Francis MacCarthy, Vice Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the Club said in a press statement that the club spent 300 million cedis in preparing for last Sunday's game but ended up with a gross proceed of 285 million cedis after the match.

According to Mr MacCarthy, a net amount of 193 million cedis was realised after making some deductions at the gates.

Mr MacCarthy said the club has to settle the huge debt before they embark on the next trip to South Africa to take on Santos FC on October 31.

The Vice Chairman has therefore called on fans of the club to come to the stadium on Sunday in their numbers to fill the stands as the club takes on Feyenoord in the ninth week Premier league match at the Accra Sports Stadium to maximise its profits.

According to Mr MacCarthy, the club is banging its hopes on the revenue at the gates on Sunday to embark on the trip to South Africa, pay outstanding debts to players as well as motivate them for the crucial "must win" tie against the South Africans.

Hearts last Sunday recorded their heaviest win in this year's continental competition when they walloped Sable d' Batie of Cameroon 5-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The round trip to South Africa including per diem for players and other incidentals is estimated to cost the club 53,000 dollars.
