Back with victory: Donsah returns in Cagliari shock win at Fiorentina

Godfred Donsah's return from injury coincided with a rare victory for Cagliari who claimed a stunning 3-1 win at Fiorentina in the Italian top league on Sunday, their first victory in three months to get new coach, Gianluca Festa off to a winning start.

The 18 year old Ghanaian midfielder came on after 79 minutes at the Artemio Franchi in Florence to steer his side to the resounding victory which halted a 4-game losing streak and their first three points since beating Sassuolo on January 24, a period spanning 11 league games (9 defeats).

It was a first game action for Donsah since Cagliari's 3-1 loss to AC Milan at the San Siro back on March 21, the youngster's bright season having been blighted by an ankle knock that kept him out for over a month.

Now he is back and with a victory Cagliari will hope can revive their almost doomed battle to avoid the drop from Serie A.

Already, Sunday's victory pushed Cagliari a step up over Cesena into the 18th spot on the league table on 24 points but still a massive seven points behind Atalanta who occupy 17th and the last safety position with just six games to go for the 2014/15 campaign.

Cagliari next face Chievo Verona away from home in their next Serie A game on Wednesday as the Italian top flight season hits the final stretch. Follow @thedonplato
