Ghana's AFCON opponents South Africa sweat on goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane fitness

South Africa goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane is struggling with a groin injury and remains a doubt for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, Soccer Laduma has reported.

The Platinum Stars shot-stopper was called up for the 34-man preliminary squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, alongside three other goalkeepers in Darren Keet, Jackson Mabokgwane and Brilliant Khuzwayo.

The groin injury means Mpontshane is a doubt to join the Bafana squad, although the final decision will be made after an assessment.

If Mpontshane does miss out through injury, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune will be brought in.

Soccer Laduma had earlier reported that Khune could be drafted into the Bafana set-up, despite not playing for about four months.
