Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says Andre Ayew's substitution in Togo win was tactical

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says his decision to substitute Andre Ayew in the 3-2 victory against Togo was for tactical reasons.

Kuban Mohammed Rabiu replaced the Olympic Marseille winger on the 63rd minute to the amazement of the fans.

At that time, Ghana were leading Togo 2-1 and Appiah explained that bringing on a defensive midfielder was meant to neutralize the Togolese midfield.

“As at the time I was taking Dede out the midfield was Togo's strong department and I felt I should bring in Rabiu to shut the door,” Appiah said.

“For me it's not an issue of a good decision or a bad decision it is a good decision.”
