Ghanaian Attacker Yakubu Mohammed Scores To Aid Maritzburg United Win
Former AshGold striker Yakubu Mohammed scored the opener Maritzburg United in their 2-0 away win over AmaZulu in the South African Premier Soccer League on Sunday.
The 23-year-old fired Maritzburd upfront just after the break as his goal-bound drive came off an AmaZulu defender at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
After a dour first half, a Marc van Heerden own goal brought the game to life after 46 minutes – the defender diverting Yakubu Mohammed's wayward shot past a helpless Tapuwa Kapini.
The goal marked Yakubu's third of the season for Maritzburg. While the former Ghana CHAN squad striker was playing in attack, midfielder Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi was on the flanks while Awal Issah Mohammed played in defence.
