Revenge Or Repeat…. As Ghana, Zambia Clash

Sullley Muntari and Christopher Katongo

Ghana's Black Stars are in high spirits, and optimistic about recording their second successive victory in the World Cup qualifiers when they cross swords with Chipolopolo (Copper Bullets) of Zambia in Ndola.

The West African's high hopes could be linked to a multiplicity of factors- their comprehensive training schedule in Johannesburg, revenge for the recent Nations Cup defeat, and their 7-0 thrashing of Lesotho, among other factors.

Coach Kwasi Appiah and the playing body have admitted the enormity of the task considering their opponent's status as African champions, and the venue, but they have given the assurance of re-strategizing to return home with a good result.

The home side have thrown in a lot to avoid a second defeat in seven days after losing 0-2 to joint Group D leaders Sudan.

As a result, rates for the game have been slashed to encourage massive spectatorship. There is widespread rumor that sex workers have agreed to offer free sex for Zambians should the Chipolopolo win today's battle royale.

But all is not well with the Zambians who have scores to settle with their French manager Herve Renard, who is complaining of his six months' unpaid salary.

Consequently, he has threatened to quit and if that is anything to go by, then the Kwasi Appiah men stand the chance of winning to boost their qualification to the next stage of the competition.

Certainly, his only problem remains picking the first eleven from the pool of gifted and hungry-for-success 23-man squad.
