English commentators embroiled in sexism row

Two of English football's leading TV commentators have come in for heavy criticism after being recorded off-microphone making sexist remarks about two female officials and West Ham vice-chair Karren Brady.

Andy Gray and Richard Keys have apologized to their employer, Sky Sports, for commenting on the appointment of Sian Massey as a lineswoman for the Premier League match between Wolverhampton and Liverpool, a game they were presenting Saturday.

The pair also criticized the ability of female former Premier League referee Wendy Toms and a newspaper column written by Brady. The comments were passed to a British newspaper.

Sky says the comments were 'not acceptable' while the Football Association has pledged its 'wholehearted and continuing support' to female officials.
