Ghana @ 66: Let’s continue the pursuit of building a happy, fulfilling and proud Ghana – Dede Ayew

Andrew Dede Ayew, the captain of the senior national football team, the Black Stars of Ghana, joined scores of Ghanaians to celebrate the nation’s 66th Independence Day anniversary.

The Black Stars’ most-capped player told Ghanaians to continue to live in peace, harmony and unity.

In the post shared on his social media pages, the 33-year-old forward emphasised the need for Ghanaians to continue the pursuit of making the nation a better place.

"As we mark this Independence Day, let us re-dedicate our commitment to the peace, harmony, and unity in our diversity. Let us all continue the pursuit of building a happy, fulfilling, and proud Ghana," he said, while wishing the nation a "Happy Independence Day!"

Meanwhile, despite several reservations about holding a ceremony to mark the event, the nation held its memorable day in grand class at Ho, Adaklu in the Volta region of Ghana.

The President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, who is the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), graced the occasion as a special guest at the parade.
