I’m disappointed with the defeat to Uruguay, says Andre Ayew after missing penalty

Ghana captain, Andre Ayew says he is disappointed about the defeat to Uruguay on Friday afternoon.

The veteran attacker started for the Black Stars today in the final Group H match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

In the 17th minute of the first half, Ghana earned a penalty after Mohammed Kudus was tripped in the area by the Uruguay goalkeeper.

Stepping up to take the spot kick, there were high hopes for Andre Ayew to put the ball at the back of the net.

Unfortunately, he wasted the spot kick, inspiring Uruguay to take control of the match.

Eventually, Uruguay scored twice and cruise to a 2-0 win.

Speaking to 3Sports after the match, Andre Ayew disclosed that missing the penalty is difficult for him to take.

“I’m very disappointed with the result. We had the opportunity to get to the next stage. The penalty I missed is difficult to take. I did not get it right on the penalty but I’m very optimistic for the future,” the experienced Black Stars forward said.
