Alexander Djiku's move to TSG Hoffenheim called off despite player passing medicals

German Bundesliga side, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have called off their decision to sign Ghana defender Alexander Djiku.

The experienced centre back despite passing his mandatory medicals will not join the club.

The highly-rated centre-back travelled to Germany on Wednesday ahead of his anticipated move to join the Bundesliga outfit.

Today, he had a successful medical examination to complete a move from Racing Strasbourg to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim which was expected to cost the German side a sum of six million euros.

However, due to a demand for an increase in commission made by the agent of the defender who is also his brother, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have decided that they are no longer interested in the deal.

According to French tabloid L’Équipe, the deal has collapsed and Alexander Djiku will travel back to France to continue pre-season with his Racing Strasbourg teams.

From the information gathered, there are still clubs in Europe’s top five leagues interested in signing the Ghana defender.

The 27-year-old has been the subject of interest from clubs around Europe this summer, including Sevilla and Rennes, after an impressive season that saw him appear 31 times in the league as Julien Stéphan’s men finished 6th in Ligue 1.
