This is not 2010; I don’t have Asamoah Gyan in Black Stars team – Milovan Rajevac on AFCON woes

Ghana head coach Milovan Rajevac

Ghana head coach, Milovan Rajevac has blamed the struggles of the Black Stars at the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to the lack of a striker of the calibre of Asamoah Gyan in the team.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday ahead of the crucial Group C match against Comoros on Tuesday, the Serbian tactician rubbished claims that language barrier is a problem in camp.

According to him, the lack of preparations is why his team has struggled at the ongoing continental showpiece in Cameroon.

“Communication is not a problem and they understand me very well. I just didn’t have enough time to prepare the team.

“We don’t have the same team like 2010. Not enough time for preparations. We don’t have a player like Asamoah Gyan,” Coach Milovan Rajevac argued.

Ghana after training today will gear up for the contest against Comoros tomorrow.

The Black Stars need to win the encounter that will be staged at the Roumdé Adjia stadium in Garoua to stand a chance of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2021 AFCON.
