Ex-Black Stars defender loses wife

Former Ghana star, Eddie Acquaye has confirmed his wife Mrs Lawrencia Acquaye has died.

She died at age 47.

The sad event occurred last week at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness, a family source has said.

Acquaye wrote in a heartfelt post “Death has taken you away but your memories are still present with us...”

The ex-Goldfields centre-back was part of Ghana Squad at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States.

He joined Goldfields from Tema GHAPOHA in 1994. He won three league titles with Goldfields during his 7year stay with the club.

Messages of condolences have poured in from former teammates including, Afo Dodoo, Leonard Moffatt and Alex Ayippey.

Funeral service will take place on Saturday, 27th March 2021 at the premises of IPMC off ring road, Accra.
