Ghana v Sudan: Black Stars Players Wear Black Armband In Honour Of JJ Rawlings

Former Ghana President Jerry John Rawlings

The Black Stars players are wearing a black armband in the game against Sudan this evening to honour former Ghana President Jerry John Rawlings who passed away on Thursday.

Earlier today, it has been confirmed that the former military and later democratic ruler of the Republic of Ghana has passed on at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Subsequently, before kickoff to the game against Sudan, the Ghana FA put in a request to CAF to allow the Black Stars players to wear a black armband and also observe a minute silence for the fallen great.

Following the granting of the request, the Ghana players observed a minute silence for the deceased Jerry John Rawlings before kickoff and are wearing a black armband to play against Sudan in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
