Samuel Obeng Scores Consolation Goal For Real Oviedo In Defeat To Leganes

Ghanaian forward Samuel Obeng starred for Real Oviedo on Sunday evening but his second-half equalizer could not save the side from suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leganes.

The forward has been handed a bigger role at his club since the start of the 2020/2021 La Liga 2 season following his outstanding displays in the division last season.

In a Matchday 8 fixture at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque today, Samuel Obeng earned a starting role for Real Oviedo to lead the lines against Leganes.

The 23-year old had a good game and managed to go on to score in added time of the second half to give his team a consolation goal.

With goals from Gaku Shibasaki and Borja Bastón in the 61st and 87th minute however, Leganes cruised to a 2-1 win as they bagged all 3 points to ensure they sent the visitors back home empty-handed.

Having played 90 minutes today, Samuel Obeng earned a rating of 7.0 from Modernghana Sports partners SofaScore [the highest by any Real Oviedo player that featured against Leganes].

This season, Obeng has played in all 8 matches for his team and now has his first goal. He will hope the equalizer gives him the confidence to score more in subsequent matches.
