Offinso Accident: Final Rites For Juvenile Footballers Who Lost Their Lives Held [Photos]

The final rites for the eight juvenile footballers who lost their lives in an accident at Offinso has been held today, Thursday, October 1.

Eight out of 24 players from the African Vision Soccer Academy died in the car crash after the minivan they were travelling in from a football registration exercise veered off the road and fell into the Offinso River.

The team was travelling back to Offinso after a registration exercise at Afrancho in Kumasi.

Six players died on the spot whiles an additional two were confirmed later at the hospital.

Four of the footballers were buried last month, a few weeks after the accident.

The final rites for the other four of the late juvenile players was held earlier today.

The news shocked Ghanaians especially the football community. FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF boss Ahmad Ahmad sent their condolence.

The GFA President Kurt Okraku led the Executive Council to sympathize with the families and also donate their monthly allowance to them.

Meanwhile, the cost of the funeral has been taken care of by the government.

The Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah was present whiles a delegation from the Ghana Football Association [GFA] were all present.
