GCPP National Delegates Conference In May

The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) is gearing up for the upcoming general elections with the election of its constituency and regional executives.

Currently, the party has conducted the election of its constituency and regional executives in eight of the 16 regions.

Alongside the elections of the constituency executives, the party is also scouting for candidates that would represent the party at the parliamentary election later this year.

The party says it will not file candidates in all the 275 constituencies in the country but will concentrate on constituencies where the party stands a better chance of winning.

Strategy
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the General Secretary of the party, Mr Ato Dadzie, said the party ought to be very strategic and “concentrate our resources and energies on a constituency where we can garner more votes”.

Currently, he said, all the regions were going through their selection process to elect candidates to represent the party at the constituencies where the party stood a better chance of winning.

According to him, it would not be prudent for the party to contest all the seats in the country “if we are doing critical analysis”.

Delegates conference
Mr Dadzie said the party was still preparing for its national delegates conference in May this year where all the parliamentary candidates would be introduced to the members.

He said the party’s plans for the general elections would be unveiled during the conference.

He said last year’s district level elections disrupted the programme of the party leading to the delay in the national delegates’ conference which will be held in Kumasi by the end of May.

Mr Dadzie said the party would be in the Bono East Region this weekend and proceed to Western North and Western Regions to conduct the elections there.

He said the team would return to the south to conduct the elections in the Central, Greater Accra, Easter, Oti and Volta Regions.
