How does it feel when you chance on a Whiteman or woman trying to speak our mother tongue?

~Olumanba Akwasi Kesse Writes...
Switzerland President Addressing His Excellency Nana Addo In Twi.

Three years ago, I was on an assignment to do a voxpop for a radio programme I was producing.

Around Odorkor area in Accra, I chanced on a whiteman and I decided to interview him and to my great surprise, he opted to be interviewed in twi instead of English.

This Whiteman told me he travelled all the way from Germany to learn our language and our traditions.

He speaks the twi better than a lot of our University Graduates I have met.

It irritates me[Olumanba] when I see some Ghanaians behaving like they are whitemen and women.(Behaving like they can't speak twi)

Let's learn to appreciate our language, our customs and traditions.

Yen ara y'asaase ni!

God bless us all and Happy Independence Day In Advance!

~Olumanba Akwasi Kesse, Personal Assistant to Madam Akua Donkor.
