Obokese Foundation In Partnership With HOW

...Holds Youth Empowerment Graduation

The Obokese Foundation in partnership with Handwriting On The Wall Institute, United States of America has organized a graduation ceremony for about 35 young men and women selected from the Abura Asebu Kwamankese and the Cape Coast Districts this morning, February 27, 2020 at Sikakrom in Cape Coast.

According to Roselyn Ampah Sahara, Head of Volunteers of the Obokese Foundation, they carefully selected to train youth who are underprivileged and come from poor homes. This she explained that her foundation seeks to empower the Ghanaian youth.

The beneficiaries were taken through Entrepreneurial skills such as bead making, nail polishing, makeup and creative thinking. The training is aimed at equiping the youth with employable skills to improve their livelihoods.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, on behalf of Nana Obokese Ampah, Mr. Ibrahim Muntari, the Operations Manager of the Foundation disclosed that the Obokese Foundation was established to provide support to the youth by way of skills training. He indicated that Nana Obokese Ampah is motivated to support the needy in the society hence the decision to establish the foundation. This he said is Nana Obokese Ampah's contribution to ensuring that we achieve the objective to move Ghana Beyond Aid.

He also stated that the foundation is ready to assist the youth to sell their products abroad once they put what they learn into profitable enterprise.

Ms. H. ElAnee Barclay Jones who is the President and Founder of Handwriting On The Wall Institute on her part expressed her excitement for the partnership with Obokese Foundation and indicated that her Institute will continue to make resources available to keep the programme running.

Speaking to the media after the graduation ceremony, beneficiaries were very grateful for the opportunity to be part of the training and that they pray others would also get the same opportunity given to them. They promised to put what they learnt into profitable ventures to improve their livelihood.

Okatakyi Dr. Amanfi VII, Paramount Chief of Asebu Traditional Area advised the beneficiaries to put what the skills they have acquired into profitable ventures to lift their living conditions. Okatakyi expressed his appreciation to the Obokese Foundation and its partners for the gesture.

Present at the ceremony were Rabi Kohain Halevi, Executive Director, PANAFEST Foundation, Mr. Richmond Yeboah, Head, Investment and Public Relations at the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Obed Acquah Quansah, Regional Director, Coastal Development Authority and Mr. Aliu Sumaila, Deputy Director of NADMO, Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District.
