Success will only come to those willing to pay the cost. The difference between where you are now and where you desire to be is seen in your level of commitment to action. Success comes to those that follow its laws and principles and Commitment is one of the basic requirements for one to achieve success.

In the oxford dictionary, the word commitment has many definitions but there is one definition that clearly defines and makes us understand what commitment in the success journey is all about.

Commitment is defined as the "willingness to work hard and give your energy and time to a job or an activity."

Successful people commit themselves and are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure they achieve their goals and dreams even if they fail a lot of times.

In 1914, Inventor Thomas Edison, at age 64, lost his factory, which was worth millions of dollars to a fire.

The factory had very little insurance. Edison watched his lifetime efforts go to smoke but this did not stop him from rebuilding another factory. This was his response, "There is great value in disaster, all our mistakes are burnt up, Thank God we can start new(commitment)." In spite of the disaster, three weeks later he invented the phonograph.

Commit Yourself To Your Vision

Great visions require great levels of commitment. Your vision requires you to commit to it. You alone are the one who should make your vision come to reality. It is your responsibility to commit yourself to make your vision tangible. At 17 years Joseph(biblical Joseph) received a vision for his life. He was to be ruler. He had two dreams which in all his dreams, his family was bowing before him. Joseph's journey was not an easy one. His vision was tested many times but he remained committed till he became the prime minister of Egypt.

Commit Yourself to your Plans/Goals/Strategies and Tactics No matter how your plan may be very convincing on paper. Commitment to follow through the plan is what brings dreams to reality. No matter how your strategy and tactics maybe on paper as long as no one commits to these nothing ever yields. Commit yourself to action. The plans require you to get into action. It was Robin Sharma who said, "Ideation without any execution is just a mere illusion."

Commit Yourself to Excellence

It was Aristotle who said these words, "We are what we repeatedly, so excellence is not just an act but a habit." Excellence is a way you live and do your things. *If you do not commit yourself to excellence you will continuously settle and live a life of mediocrity. In business, they say, "Your brand is what people say about you when you are not there." To build a great brand you have to be a person of excellence. Do not settle for mediocrity. Strive to live a life of excellence and live a mark.

Brian Anthony founder of the application Whatsapp. At a certain point in time, Brian was rejected and denied a job by Facebook and Twitter. After being rejected he did not give up. He started and developed his own app the famous WhatsApp. Whatsapp which later made him a billionaire after later on selling Whatsapp to Facebook (company that rejected him) for 17 billion dollars. This is was a massive win. No matter the odds commit yourself to win. You might have lost yesterday but be sure to pick yourself up and commit to win today.
