Menzgold Customers Arrested For Storming NAM1’s House

Scores of customers of gold dealership firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited who massed up at a supposed Trassaco estate home of the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM 1 have been arrested.

They were arrested for trespassing, unlawful entry and causing injury to the security detail of the estate.

Police officials from the Accra Regional Command made the arrest to maintain order at the place.

The Director Operations at the Accra Regional Police Command, Kwesi Ofori explained the reasons for the arrest:

“On no occasion have this group of persons told the police that today, they will be embarking on a demonstration. There was no information to the police and we know we live in a democratic country. The law asks any citizen to inform the police of any intention to demonstrate or mass activity. Looking at this very environment, and for this group of persons to invade the premises, assaulting the security detail of the estate and having forcefully entered the place to carry out such an illegal exercise, has something to do with the police. Violation of the law calls for arrest. So they have been arrested and are being taken to the Regional Police headquarters for investigations to commence.”

In what can be described as renewed efforts by the customers from all branches including Tarkwa, Kumasi, and Accra, to retrieve their locked up cash, they swore not to leave NAM1’s premises if their demands are not met.

“Today, if Nana Appiah doesn't pay me, I will not leave here. I am going to spend 365 days here until I get my money. I will spend all the days here. I am not going anywhere. I need my money,” an angry customer fumed.

“We are here to collect our monies. That is why we are here. We are not here to damage anything or to harass anybody. We are here peacefully for our invested monies. That is the reason we are here,” another customer stated.

Upon getting to the Trasacco gates, there was a scuffle between the customers and the security personnel who denied them entry.

The customers however overpowered the security personnel and entered the estates.

In front of the house, they met reactions from some heavily built men who positioned themselves in front of the gate to prevent the customers from entering the house.
