The Omanhene Of Sefwi Bekwai, Oyeadieyie Basape Kojo Armah III Donates To Sebess
The Omanhene of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Council Oyeadieyie Basape Kojo Armah III over the weekend donated 12 brand new computers and accessories, two large printers, a projector, and other communication gadgets to Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School (SEBESS) on behalf of the Sefwi Bekwai Association of North America. This is the second time the association is donating to the school in honour of Oyeadieyie Basape Kojo Armah III who was visiting the school for the first time after his coronation this year.
The event was combined with the send-off ceremony of Mr. Samuel Seth Sam, outgoing headmaster who has raised the school to be among the A1 category schools status in Ghana.
The overlord of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Council said at the event he will increase them to meet the student-computer ratio at the school which he hopes will accelerate computer education training in all class levels of the school so that the students will use them outside normal classes hours for their homework and learning. He continued, that he wanted to connect the school with an internet service but the cost of the internet data bundle is too high, notwithstanding he will continue to lobby to help bring broadband internet service to the school.
The headmistress Mrs. Gloria Biney Dontoh who accepted the donation on behalf of the school promised to take good care of the equipment in expectant waiting of the inter-connectivity of the school wi-fi promised by the Omanhene Oyeadieyie Basape Kojo Armah III and the Association in North America in the near future.
He told the excited students and the people that “so long as he remained the Paramount Chief of the traditional area, education will and will remain a top priority” of his agenda. “Education is the hope for the development of our traditional area…is a way to achieve personal attainment at a high level. We should not be discouraged by poor conditions or nor by our humble backgrounds. In the world, there are many successful people who have come from humble backgrounds. It is a case in Ghana and here in our traditional area. When you excel in your studies, you excel in life and further you’ll contribute more to your own society and country”. He added
Sefwi Bekwaimanhene spent time in his speech to applaud men and women in the Association who are proud of Sefwi Bekwai but now reside in Canada and USA. Nana continued “these are dedicated individuals who are proud of their Sefwi heritage and have come together to promote Sefwi Bekwai and our culture abroad.” He explained that “the association is committed to contributing to the development of our traditional area. The association recognizes the need to improve education in our schools and that computer literacy and information is the key to the future success of our kids”.
With enormous gratitude by the association towards SEBESS with their commitment to improve education at the school, Nana thanked the Sefwi Bekwai Association of North America and acknowledged the association members who directly contributed to the donation; Stephen Wireko, Dr. Francis Ando Baidu, Smart Essien, Prince Gyenin, Diana Ampem, Kojo Mensah, Dr. Eric Ackah, Samuel Ackah, Ebenezer Banahene, Isaac Asiedu Ampem, Emmanuel Banahene, Thomas Mensah, Frank Donkor, Clement Nkansah and Sebastian Kwaku Nkansah.
