GIFEC Donates Computers To Attakrom D/a Primary School

The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC), an agency under the Ministry of Communications has presented ten (10) computers and ten (10) uninterrupted power supply (UPS) to the Attakrom D/A primary school in the District to help facilitate practical learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and to compliment the theoretical aspect of the subject.

Making the presentations, the District Chief Executive, Madam Charity Akua Foriwaa Dwommoh entreated the students to take advantage of the initiative to improve on their knowledge and skills in ICT and everything they need to know about the subject and appealed to GIFEC to extend the gesture to other schools in the District.

She also urged the community to act as watchdogs and ensure people do not temper with the computers. She further advised the school authorities and the students to ensure proper handling of the machines to enjoy the benefits of it.

The DCE said, government was working to ensure that all schools had the same level of educational support and called for support from all.

The Middle Zonal Manager for GIFEC, Mr. Arnold Johnson said the presentation formed part of GIFEC’s school connectivity project which seeks to help bridge the digital gap between the rural communities and the cities and to also help to facilitate practical lessons in ICT in the country.

He urged the students to make good use of the computers to improve their knowledge in ICT.

Madam Zinabu Ansoma, the assistant head teacher who received the items expressed gratitude to GIFEC and the government for supporting ICT education in the school and gave assurance that the machines would be used for the intended purposes.
