Dr Delle selected for Marie Curie Award

Accra, Feb. 25, GNA - Dr Edmund Delle, Director of the Rabito Group of Clinics, has been selected as one of the recipients of the prestigious Marie Curie Award, of the International Biographical Centre (IBC), in recognition of his contribution to medicine both nationally and internationally.

By his selection, the 63-year-old Dermatologist and Chairman of the Convention People's Party would join other laureates to receive the IBC awards scheduled for July 2006, at a World Forum at the Oxford University in England.

A release in Accra, signed by Atta Kwaku Boadi, Public Relations Officer of the Rabito Clinic in Accra, described the IBC 'as one of the most influential research institutes, established worldwide to promote careers of thousands of professionals, whose contributions have been recognised nationally and internationally.

The Marie Curie Award is named after one of history's most acclaimed physicist, whose theorems and philosophies became world known and because she gained her reputation in he own lifetime. An IBC statement attached to the release said of Dr Delle: "your reputation has been gained in your own lifetime, and are therefore a most worthy recipient of the Marie Curie Award."

Born in 1943 at Nandom in the Upper West Region, Dr Delle obtained a Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1970, from the University of Padua in Italy, and also studied at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium and obtained a Diploma in Tropical Medicine. He later returned to the University of Padua and read a course in Skin and Venereal Diseases, obtaining his specialist diploma with honours in 1972.

Dr Delle is currently the Director and Chief Consultant Dermatologist of the Rabito Group of Clinics.
