Africa Mining Ministers Attend Africa Downunder Mining Conference For Increased Australian Investment
Mining Ministers from throughout the African continent will meet in Perth next week for a three day international forum designed to attract even greater Australian investment over the near-term – including by Australia’s well respected miners and explorers already operating there.
The 2019 Africa Downunder mining conference at the Pan Pacific Hotel from Wednesday (4 Sept) is the world’s largest business forum on Africa held outside of that continent’s borders. Its focus is the untapped mineral wealth of the continent, which continues to prove a magnet for international investors and sector leaders.
In following the trends underpinning debate on the continent’s future, six specific issues (summarised overleaf) will be at the heart of this year’s ADU agenda – the 17th such forum held. These include increasing security concerns, widening the economic role beyond mining that Australian miners can play in Africa’s development, and breaking down barriers to ensure more African women participate in the continent’s mining future.
The forum has attracted around 1,500 delegates, at least 14 African mining ministers and multiple Ambassadorial contingents as well as delegates from South East Asia, Europe and the US.
