I Have What It Takes To Win Ayawaso East Primaries

Dr. Yakubu M. Azindow, Ayawaso East NDC Parliamentary hopeful

Dr. Yakubu M. Azindow, an aspirant for the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] Ayawaso East primaries is upbeat of winning the forthcoming party primaries come Saturday August 24th , 2019.

The Aspirant expressed the hope that the delegates will give him the nod as the party’s candidate for the 2020 general elections based on the message he has sold to them .

Speaking exclusively to this reporter in Accra on Wednesday, the Parliamentary hopeful was of the view that he has what it takes to win in the two horse race against the incumbent hon. Mahama Nasser Toure.

On what gives him the edge over his main competitor, Dr. Azindow explained that the vision and programs he has for the constituency that has been conveyed to party delegates and constituents gives him the edge over the incumbent.

The Political Scientist among other things explained that if given the nod and subsequently elected as the constituency’s rep at parliament come 2020 elections, he will unite the ranks and files of the party and also transforms the constituency in various fields.

He mentioned among other things youth education and women empowerment, sanitation and recreation, war against drug abuse and gambling as well as sports development as some of the issues he will tackle if given the mandate.

Responding to a question on how he intends to implement these programs, Dr. Azindow further explained that on youth education and empowerment, his administration will establish a Senior High School with emphasis on technical and vocational education to train the constituency’s youth in particular in both vocational and technical skills, thereby given them the skills required to be self-reliance.

The Aspirant also promised to support tertiary level education of the youth through awarding of government and private scholarship schemes and also create programs that will pave way for successful completion as well as eventual placement and gainful employment.

We shall also pursue the economic empowerment of our women , both young and old by offering them material and financial supports to create and expand upon their businesses. We shall also create joint ventures for our women groups and also explore available opportunities to help them succeed as part of our women empowerment programs.

On Sanitation and Recreation, the aspirant who was born and bred at Nima, a suburb of Accra, pointed out that he will invest in adequate waste disposal projects through provision of waste bins and also undertake regular clean-up exercises in addition to rigorous public education on health and sanitation.

‘’ We shall lobby for the completion of existing drainage and sanitation related projects in the constituency and also invest in the construction of more toilet facilities in our houses’’ he indicated.

Touching on sports development, Dr. Yakubu Azindow who was cognizant of the abundance of talents within the constituency also promised to lead efforts to preserve the remaining football pitches within the constituency and further develop them into state of the arts astro-turfs, develop comprehensive sports programs in his quest to nurture and grow the skills of talented sports personalities as well as liaise with both local and foreign partners to help place the constituency’s sports persons at their sporting clubs.

He was confident the primaries will be conducted in peace devoid of any skirmishes from both sides. He said we are both championing the same course and that there’s no need to fight amongst ourselves.

Contrary to notions from section of electorates in the constituency on his post primaries commitment to the party , Dr. Azindow noted ‘’ the outcome of the primaries will not affect my commitment to the course of the NDC . The primaries outcome will rather strengthen my commitment and ginger me to work more for the party as the aim is to retain the seat for our party and also win the general elections to form the new government to rule Ghana come January 2021.

I am ready to commit resources to help the incumbent to campaign should I not win the primaries. I therefore urge both camps to campaign peacefully devoid of insults, hatred, rancor, wrong and counter accusations on candidates and supporters.
