160 Unclaimed Bodies To Be Buried En Masse—Police Hospital

About 160 unidentified and unclaimed bodies at the mortuary of the Ghana Police Hospital will be buried en masse, officials of the facility have disclosed.

In a statement, management said the exercise is part of measures to decongest the hospital’s morgue.

“The Ghana Police Hospital will embark on a mass burial for about one hundred and sixty unidentified and unclaimed bodies as part of routine measures to decongest the hospital mortuary.”

The hospital’s administration is urging the general public to within 21 days contact its Pathology Department for identification of the bodies before it goes ahead with the planned exercise.

“The general public is hereby being informed to contact the Pathology Department of the Ghana Police Hospital for identification of the persons who might have not been seen for some time [now] as part of the search. This is to avert a situation whereby such bodies are added to those earmarked for the mass burial after twenty-one days from this announcement.”

The hospital has however advised Ghanaians to as a matter of security, ensure that they at all times possess their national identity cards to aid police officers in their search during crises.

“Members of the general public are also hereby encouraged to acquire the habit of always having their National Identification Cards or that of any organization on them to help police and others easily identify them whenever they are in any health crises or involved in an accident.”
