SFO Boss Slams Government

"It Was Unfortunate & Very Pathetic To See The Country's Vice-President & CEO of AMA Desilting Choked Gutters" The acting Executive Director Of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), Mr. Theophilus Asharki Cudjoe has lashed out at the Kufuor government saying its systems have failed.

“If systems were working, why would government ministers, officials and especially the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AMA enter into gutters to clean them?” he asked.

The executive director said it was unfortunate and very pathetic to see the country's vice-president and the CEO of AMA, and key government officials desilting choked gutters.

“Is it not pathetic to see the vice-president Aliu Mahama and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Chief executive officer Mr. Nii Agyiri Blankson including key government officials holding shovels to dig up filth? The SFO boss quizzed.

According to him, elsewhere like Germany, institutions are working where garbage's are collected daily to the extent that sanitary inspectors are on guard to ensure quicker disposal of refuse with papers bottles being secluded in other bins.

Mr. Theophilus Cudjoe made these statements at the launch of Transparency international's 2006 Global Corruption Report (GCR 2006) with a special focus on corruption in the health sector at KAMA Conference centre in Accra, organised by Ghana Integrity Initiative.
