Ahafo Residents Urged To Accept President’s Choice For Ahafo Region Capital

The Asutifi North Constituency Women Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has advised residents in the newly-created Ahafo Region to embrace any town which is chosen as the capital.

Madam Philomina Ndro is calling on all to unite in order to fastrack development of the new Ahafo Region.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Ark News, she was optimistic that the president will do a broader consultation with all stakeholders in the Ahafo area to be able to chose a deserving location as the capital.

According to her,some persons have begun lobbying to have their town chosen as the regional capital but that should not bring disunity in the area.

The Ahafo Region is one of the newly created regions in the country as a result of the referendum held in four regions namely Brong Ahafo,Western,Northern and the Volta Region.

Two new regions have thus been carved out of the Brong Ahafo Region;Brong East and Ahafo Region while Savanna and North East were carved out of the Northern Region.

The Volta Region has been divided into two with the formation of the Oti Region while the Western North has been formed out of the Western Region,bringing the total number of regions in the country to 16.
