NPP Group Endorses Rocky Joojo for Ayawaso West Wuogon Seat

The Concerned Constituents of Ayawaso West Wuogon in the Greater Accra Region, want Mr. Rocky Joojo Obeng, Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA) to be their next Member of Parliament (MP).

“Joojo as we call him is currently the Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), and he is one of us, and has lived with us here in the constituency for over 20 years” the group said in a statement.

According to them, Mr. Obeng who knows very well the challenges they face,.has his private businesses in the constituency.

“Joojo is a pillar for the youth in this constituency. We look up to him in times of difficulties and he has never disappointed. When things were though in this constituency, he was there to help. He has served his part with his money for years and this is public knowledge” they claimed.

The group members are of the view that “the young energetic and intelligent Rocky Joojo Obeng is someone they can rely on to maintain the seat left behind by the late MP, Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.”

“We know Joojo to be very resourceful and his personal and individual contribution to the party in the constituency. He appeals to us the youth and he is very respectful, politically savvy, humble and on good terms with almost everybody in the constituency” they added.

“For us the constituents, if Rocky Obeng is not on the ballot as our Parliamentary Candidate, we will not vote in the by election. The party leadership is very much aware of the implication if we decide not to vote. We will also incite others not to vote in the election and if care is not taking the NDC will rake the seat back” they warned.

“We hope party leaders will listen to our cry and bring Richard 'Rocky Joojo' Obeng as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso West Wugon” they stated.

Rocky Joojo Obeng is also a former Policy Analyst at the Centre for National Affairs, a Civil Society group.

Following the demise of the MP for the area, Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko in November 2018, several names have come up as likely replacement for him.

Although the late MP is yet to be buried before a primaries and a by-election, reports had suggested that his two late wives are jostling over who to replace him.

But the second wife of the late MP, Lydia Alhassan Agyarko, has said she has never been interested in contesting for the seat her husband occupied before his demise in November, 2018.

She indicated that although several party members had suggested that she considers contesting, she had asked for time to mourn her husband first.

Her comments come in the wake of calls by some polling station executives and some constituents of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, including some students of the University of Ghana and GIMPA for the her to contest for the seat.

The youth recently massed up at the NPP headquarters to present a petition demanding that she should be allowed to vie for the position.

There's another group of NPP members who are also pushing for another woman, believed to be the current and First wife of Agyarko, Josephine Nana Baiden Agyarko, to contest the seat.

Posters of the two women are already out in the public domain.
