Two storekeepers before court for failing to issue VAT Invoice

Takoradi, Nov.16, GNA - Two storekeepers, Florence Ntow of Glory Post Ventures and George Polley of Anderson Ventures at Takoradi on Wednesday appeared before a Takoradi Circuit Court for allegedly failing to issue Valued Added Tax (VAT) invoice.

They pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Mr Justice George Koomson, cautioned and discharged.

The court however, ordered them to pay the 15 per cent VAT on the goods bought from their stores to the VAT Office at Takoradi. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Gabriel Agbemevor said the complainant bought cosmetics worth 105,000 cedis from Florence but she failed to issue a VAT invoice.

He said the complainant also bought a gallon of paint and a painting brush worth 42,000 cedis from Polley but he also failed to issue a VAT invoice, and after investigations they were charged with the offence.
