Teshie Chief Lauds Family Health Group

Teshie Mantse, Gbetwoolor Nii Ashitey Akomfra III, on behalf of his people has expressed gratitude to management and staff of Family Health Group, led by Professor Yao Kwakume and Dr. Susu Bridget Kwawukume.

Nii Ashitey II was speaking when the fourth batch of students of Ghana’s premier private Medical School, Family Health University College, as part of their orientation paid a visit to him and his elders at his Palace.

The delegation, which comprised Ambassador of Family Health Group,Mrs. Reeta Auguste, the Register of Family Health University College, Mrs. Rita Kaine, and the Matron, were ushered into the Palace by the newly elected Beauty Queens of Teshie.

“We are grateful for your outstanding contribution towards the progress and development of the community in the area of health and education. We are proud to have you situated in our community”, he stated.

Earlier, the fresh students visited the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Center to familiarize themselves with events there, and were warmly received by Major Akatey, Dr. Kwesi Anning, Director, Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research and the Academic director.

Addressing the students through a spokesperson, Nii said education was the only major asset for parents to give to their children to ward off poverty.

He said because of the passion he had for education, he had arranged for a mobile library to serve the community and thanked Management of Family Health Group for their annual health screening and outreach program they have been organizing for people in the Teshie community.

He said they were excited about having in their community the Medical School, the Family Health Medical Hospital, and the Family Health Nursing and Midwifery School.

The Matron of Family Health Group, Mrs. Frances Lomoko, said their main obligation was to introduce the fresh students to the Chief and the entire community, saying it was an annual event that the Family Health Medical School undertakes.

Last year, Nii presented the “2017 AKORA AWARD” to Family Health Hospital and gave the assurance to institute the “BEST MEDICAL STUDENT AWARD”.

The vision of Family Health Medical School is to be the prime center for professional medical education and training in the advancement of human health.

The mission is to encourage distinction, inclusiveness, diversity and innovation in the community, and attract and develop talented academic workforce; enrich their intellectual and technological environment to nurture exceptionally creative research and education.

They would also create and maintain excellent clinical programs to provide outstanding care, and provide the highest standards of ethics, integrity and compassionate care.
